Uncomplicated feast "zur Schmiden"
Invite your guests to a great tavolata in the Zunfthaus zur Schmiden. You decide what is on the table and then all you have to do is sit down, scoop and enjoy. The bowls and dishes are placed in the middle of the table so that everyone can help themselves to their heart's content. Look forward to an uncomplicated pleasure experience, where the ice cream between the guests who do not know each other yet melts in no time.
The guild house and its hall
A building steeped in history, in which tradition and modernity blend harmoniously, forms the framework of your tavolata. The Zunfthaus zur Schmiden has been in existence since 1412 in the heart of Zurich's old town and is therefore one of the oldest guild houses in the city. In 2010 the building was completely renovated and reopened as an exclusive event location for private and business events. With a large company (up to 250 people) you can dine in the guild hall, which with its stately height of almost five metres, the large window front and the magnificent wall decorations creates an incomparable ambience.
Your tavolata could look like this
- Apéro: wood-fired bread rolls with mascarpone spread and herb bacon or (for the vegetarian guests) with a herb cream, radishes and fleur de sel. This is accompanied by a fine cider made from traditional Fribourg apples.
- Salads: Marinated salad of tomatoes, cucumbers and mushrooms, boiled meat salad with red onions and gherkins, young leaf salad and chabis salad, with various toppings and crispy croutons, served with blue cheese from the Zurich Oberland and crispy strips of Tösstal bacon. You can also look forward to the homemade Schmiden dressing made to the chef's secret recipe.
- Main dishes: Juicy Swiss T-bone steak on a wooden board, with classic café de Paris sauce or strong red wine jus with coloured pepper or (vegetarian variant) green herb quiche with a root vegetable foam. The main courses are accompanied by seasonal vegetables and spicy fried potatoes.
- dessert: Sweet fruit soufflé with butter crumbles like grandmother's and double cream
